Tensions Rise as AAP Blames LG Over Drowning Incident in Delhi

The LG office has accused AAP leaders, including MP Sanjay Singh, of making false and misleading statements about a recent tragedy where a woman and her child drowned in a DDA drain. The AAP has blamed the DDA for the incident, demanding the LG's resignation and planning a protest, while the LG office argues the MCD, controlled by AAP, is responsible.

The LG office on Friday accused AAP leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, of making false and misleading statements regarding the drowning of a woman and her child in a DDA drain.

AAP leaders claim the incident, which took place in East Delhi, was due to negligence from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and have demanded the resignation of the LG, who heads the Authority. They also announced a protest at the LG office on Saturday.

However, the LG's office countered that the drain, where the incident occurred, falls under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), which is under AAP control since April 2023. It criticized AAP for not taking responsibility and called out alleged failures in their governance.
