In a strategic move ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held discussions with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray on Saturday, according to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
The meetings, which took place at Shinde's official residence, Varsha Bungalow in Mumbai, focused on key issues like the Maratha reservation. The collaboration of the two prominent Maratha leaders, Shinde and Pawar, underscores the significance of the reservation issue as a critical electoral topic.
Notably, this was the first meeting between Thackeray and Shinde since Thackeray expressed a desire to exit the Mahayuti alliance. Thackeray has been actively engaging with the state administration on redevelopment projects, including the Bombay Development Directorate (BDD) Chawls and police housing colonies. Thackeray, who plans to contest 200 to 250 seats independently, criticized the state's financial stability, linking it to internal conflicts within the NCP.
