Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray and NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar on Saturday met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde separately.

Thackeray highlighted issues concerning the sprawling BDD chawls in Mumbai and the development of colonies for police personnel during his meeting with Shinde.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Shinde ordered officials to prioritize the concerns of Worli residents and take action against builders violating Slum Rehabilitation Authority project rules. He also emphasized the need to make housing available for police personnel, noting that only 18,000 residential units are currently available for 52,000 police personnel.

Details of Pawar's meeting with Shinde remain unknown. However, sources close to Shinde noted that Pawar remains engaged with the ruling alliance despite criticism from other Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders.

The meetings come amidst the ongoing issue of Maratha reservation, an issue still simmering beneath the surface.
