President Murmu's Landmark Visit Strengthens India-Fiji Relations
President Droupadi Murmu commenced her three-nation tour with a visit to Fiji, making history as the first Indian head of state to do so. President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Fiji on Monday, marking the beginning of her three-nation tour aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and promoting India's Act East Policy.
During her stay from August 5-7, President Murmu will meet with Fiji's President Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. She will also address the Fijian Parliament, where she is expected to interact with several members of Indian origin.
This historic visit, the first by an Indian head of state to Fiji, sets the tone for subsequent stops in New Zealand and Timor-Leste, as India seeks to reinforce its strategic ties in the region.
