BJP Supports SC Verdict on LG’s Power to Appoint MCD Aldermen

The BJP Delhi unit expressed support for the Supreme Court ruling that the Lieutenant Governor has the power to nominate aldermen to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The BJP criticized AAP's habit of questioning the LG's decisions and condemned AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s negative reaction to the verdict.

The Delhi unit of the BJP has praised the Supreme Court’s decision affirming that the Lieutenant Governor holds the authority to nominate aldermen to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), highlighting AAP’s tendency to contest the LG’s actions.

Addressing a press conference, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva emphasized that this power has been exercised by the LG for decades.

Sachdeva criticized AAP MP Sanjay Singh for his negative response to the verdict, labeling it as evidence of his frustration and radical ideology. Singh called the ruling 'unfortunate' and anti-democratic. The Supreme Court’s verdict comes as a significant setback to the AAP government, confirming the LG’s authority in the matter.
