RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday accused the BJP of using the proposed amendments to the Wakf Act to further its politics of religious polarization.

Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar's assembly, questioned the Centre's reluctance to incorporate the state’s hiked reservations for deprived castes into the Constitution's ninth schedule, after the Patna High Court struck them down.

Amid queries about the backlash against the Wakf Act amendments from various political entities, Yadav reiterated his stance against divisive politics and the need to protect religious sentiments. Meanwhile, Bihar’s minority affairs minister Zama Khan hinted at a positive development if the amendments included women in Wakf Boards.
