Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday labeled the opposition as a 'group of opportunists' while presenting old video clips of BJP and JD(S) leaders attacking each other. Speaking at a public meeting, Shivakumar, who is also the State Congress chief, asserted that the opposition's attempts to undermine the government would be unsuccessful and predicted Congress's continued rule for the next decade.
The Deputy CM highlighted footage of BJP and JD(S) leaders clashing on various issues, showcased on a giant screen on stage. The assembly elections last May saw a three-way battle between Congress, BJP, and JD(S). Later, JD(S) aligned with BJP in the recent Lok Sabha elections after joining the NDA in September.
Amidst a public discourse aimed at countering BJP's week-long march from Bengaluru to Mysuru, calling for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s resignation over a purported scam, Shivakumar criticized the opposition march as an attempt to distract public attention from real issues like the Mekedatu project, which could benefit farmers.
