Student unrest erupted at Rajasthan University on Tuesday as students demanded the resumption of union elections, according to police reports.
Additional personnel were deployed to ensure law and order as students started burning tyres to push their demands. Gandhi Nagar SHO Udaybhan Yadav reported that more than 25 students were detained from JLN Marg.
Student leader Mahesh Chaudhary criticized the state's BJP government, calling it 'anti-student.' He pointed out that BJP leaders had demanded student union elections before assembly polls but had since remained silent. Similarly, Shivraj Pacherwal from the Congress-backed NSUI accused the government of attempting to suppress the voice of the youth. The protests culminated in a rally on the university campus, as observed by the police.
