Ramesh Chennithala, Congress' Maharashtra incharge, met with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray as part of Thackeray's three-day visit to Delhi. The discussions centered around assembly poll seat-sharing, scheduled for further deliberation on August 7 in Mumbai.
During his visit, Thackeray plans to meet key Opposition figures such as Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Opposition Leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi. This visit follows the Maha Vikas Aghadi's election success, securing 31 out of 48 constituencies in Maharashtra.
Chennithala noted the informal nature of their meeting, held at Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut’s residence. Thackeray's visit, branded a 'samvad tour,' has led to speculation about his ambitions for the Maharashtra chief ministerial seat amid criticism from leaders like Sanjay Nirupam and rival interests from within the Congress and NCP parties.
