Kerala Leaders Mourn the Passing of Former West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee

Bhattacharjee, known for his leadership and dedication to democracy, passed away at the age of 80, leaving behind his wife and daughter.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Assembly Speaker A N Shamseer on Thursday condoled the death of former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.
Vijayan praised Bhattacharjee's exemplary organisational skills and leadership qualities, particularly his commitment to the dispossessed and his braving of brutal repression from authorities. He highlighted Bhattacharjee's efforts in industrialisation, democracy, and secularism.
Shamseer expressed that Bhattacharjee's death marks a loss for the Left, emphasising the veteran leader's ideals and values, which will continue to inspire future generations.
Bhattacharjee passed away at 80 due to age-related ailments, and he had pledged his body to medical research. His tenure included a notable period as West Bengal CM, where he advocated for industrialisation and democracy. He is survived by his wife Mira and daughter Suchetana.
