Govind Shende, regional secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) for Goa and Maharashtra, has issued a stark warning that India could face civil unrest akin to that in Bangladesh if it loses its Hindu majority. Speaking at a press conference, Shende pointed to the ongoing violence against the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh, highlighting their insecure environments and frequent attacks by radical elements.

Shende urged the global community to take measures to ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh, where the recent ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has led to mass uprisings and civil chaos. According to Shende, Hindu shops, homes, offices, and temples remain vulnerable to vandalism and attacks, with over 560 people reportedly killed since the start of the anti-quota protests that escalated into widespread violence.

He further emphasized that maintaining a Hindu majority in India was crucial to prevent similar violence. Shende stated, 'Every Hindu should have two children. If Hindus remain in majority, such a situation will not arise, but if not, then it could.' The recent incidents in Bangladesh, including vandalism of Hindu properties and the assassination of Hindu leaders, underline the gravity of the situation.
