Opposition's Final Push: Mega Rally Over Karnataka MUDA 'Scam'

The opposition BJP and JD(S) culminated their week-long protest march in Karnataka, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam. The final day saw a mega rally and leaders from both parties raising accusations of land fraud implicating Siddaramaiah's wife.

The opposition BJP and JD(S) brought their week-long protest march to a dramatic conclusion on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah due to allegations surrounding the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment 'scam'.

The Bengaluru-Mysuru padayatre, aimed at highlighting alleged fraudulent site allotments by MUDA, including ones involving Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi, reached its peak with a mega rally.

The final leg of the 'Mysuru Chalo' protest commenced at Ramaswamy circle and concluded at Maharaja’s College Grounds with a grand valedictory rally attended by BJP State President B Y Vijayendra and JD(S) leader Nikhil Kumaraswamy among others.

The ruling Congress countered with a massive “Janandolana” convention in support of Siddaramaiah and to refute the opposition's allegations. Veteran BJP leader B S Yediyurappa and Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy were among those present at the rally.

The MUDA 'scam' controversy involves compensatory site allotments to Parvathi Siddaramaiah allegedly in an upscale Mysuru area in return for her less valuable land. Opponents claim Parvathi lacked lawful ownership of the land.

An inquiry commission under former High Court Judge Justice P N Desai was constituted to investigate the claims, and Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's show-cause notice to the Chief Minister has further escalated tensions.
