Lt Gen H S Sahi on Saturday handed over the charge of general officer commanding of the Indian Army's largest corps, Spear Corps, to Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar.
Officials credited Lt Gen Sahi with outstanding leadership and operational effectiveness, notably during the ethnic conflict in Manipur. Throughout his 17-month tenure, Lt Gen Sahi led a significant modernization drive within the Spear Corps, integrating advanced technology to enhance operational capabilities. He played a crucial role in reinforcing security measures along India's northern borders and those of Myanmar and Bangladesh. Additionally, he oversaw infrastructure projects to boost the army's combat readiness and promoted joint training initiatives to improve inter-service coordination.
In the northeastern states, Lt Gen Sahi addressed insurgencies and curbed cross-border drug trafficking. His strategic vision emphasized dialogue and humanitarian principles, particularly in response to the Manipur conflict.
