Congress leader Shashi Tharoor criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his delayed visit to the landslide-affected Wayanad, expressing that an earlier visit would have been beneficial.
Tharoor, representing Thiruvananthapuram in the Parliament, shared his hope that following Modi's visit, the Central government would declare the incident a natural calamity and allocate necessary funds for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The July 30 landslides in Wayanad have resulted in 226 deaths and left over 130 people missing, causing significant destruction. Tharoor highlighted that rehabilitation would be challenging and urged the government to take prompt action.
