The Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled a White Paper Concept on 'AI for Manufacturing Engineering Technology (AI-MET)' in New Delhi. The initiative signifies a strategic push towards responsible AI adoption in manufacturing, seeking to improve productivity, competitiveness, and innovation within the sector.

The launch, part of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, attracted industry leaders, academia, and government officials, underscoring the importance of collaboration. Prominent figures such as Dr. Eric Grimson from MIT and Mr. Pravin Panchagnula from Microsoft India were in attendance, highlighting a collective national effort to integrate AI for enhancing industrial outcomes.

NAMTECH, guided by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, spearheaded the event, envisioning the MET platform as a cornerstone for transformative growth. The initiative aligns with India's vision for 2047, focusing on skilling, inclusion, and technological integration to bolster the manufacturing ecosystem at a global level.
