Maharashtra BJP head Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Sunday fired sharp criticisms at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, accusing him of distancing himself from the saffron legacy and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's heritage.
Bawankule's remarks followed Thackeray's speech in Thane, where he accused Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of 'bowing' to Delhi and framed the upcoming assembly elections as a fight against those who 'hate' the state.
Bawankule accused Thackeray of betraying his father's legacy, Balasaheb Thackeray, and aligning with the 'successors of Aurangzeb.' He emphasized that the public will not forgive Thackeray for abandoning the 'bhagwa.'
