Chhattisgarh Govt Seeks Comprehensive Development in Naxal-Affected Areas

Deputy CM Vijay Sharma revealed a division in naxal ideologies, with factions differing over development and personal gain. Meanwhile, CM Vishnu Deo Sai met with Union Ministers to address rural issues and seek exemptions under MGNREGA for naxal-hit regions.

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma has highlighted an ideological rift among Naxalite factions, with one group favoring development and the other seeking personal benefit. Sharma stated, 'There is a split among the Naxals. One group wants development and is unhappy with naxal activities. The government has assured its support.' He attributed the split to some individuals prioritizing personal gain over regional welfare, while locals remain concerned about their area.

In a related development, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai held critical discussions with Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. They deliberated on key issues affecting agriculture and rural development, particularly under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana in naxal-affected zones of Chhattisgarh. Additionally, Sai called for the exemption of naxal-affected regions from the Aadhaar-based payment system (ABPS) under MGNREGA. He advocated for the rehabilitation of surrendered naxals and impacted families, seeking the inclusion of 10,500 new families in the housing scheme and approval for housing construction in affected panchayats.

The Chief Minister further emphasized the necessity of extending the ABPS exemption under MGNREGA until March 31, 2025, due to inadequate internet facilities in remote areas. He also proposed allowing cash payments where banking services are unavailable. Sai detailed the approval of 106 large bridges under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Nyay Maha Abhiyan and urged the construction of 426 more to enhance road connectivity in tribal areas, which is vital for combatting naxalism.
