Political Storm Brewed Over SEBI Chief Amid Allegations by Hindenburg Research

Hindenburg Research's allegations against SEBI chief Madhabi Buch ignited a political firestorm in India. The opposition parties, including Congress and other INDIA bloc members, called for Buch's removal and a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe, urging the Supreme Court to intervene.

Accusations from Hindenburg suggest that Buch and her husband have interests in offshore funds linked to the alleged Adani Group scandal. The Buchs vehemently denied these allegations, calling them baseless character assassinations and a ploy to discredit SEBI's integrity.

While the BJP accuses the opposition of conspiracy, opposition leaders argued that under such serious charges, Buch should step down. The Adani Group also termed the accusations as manipulative and insisted on no commercial ties with Buch or her husband.
