Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has urged Canadians to exit Lebanon as tensions escalate between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah, posing a serious risk. Trudeau highlighted the regional challenges, warning that evacuation might not be feasible for everyone should the conflict intensify.
Speaking to reporters in Ontario, Trudeau said, "We see that the risk of escalation is real, the challenges in the region are significant. We are making certain preparations to be able to support in the event that everything gets much, much worse, but the situation is so difficult that we may not be able to get all Canadians out."
Ottawa is preparing for possible evacuation but stresses that the worsening situation might limit their ability to assist all Canadians on the ground.
