Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy took a swipe at the former BRS administration on Thursday, criticizing their high-interest borrowing policies. He assured that his government would avoid such financial burdens on the public. Speaking at Golconda Fort, the CM detailed his vision for making Telangana the 'future state,' emphasizing debt restructuring and fiscal prudence.
Reddy disclosed that discussions with the World Bank for low-interest financial aid were productive. He pointed out the state's debt had surged from Rs 75,577 crore at Telangana's inception to Rs 7 lakh crore by the end of the last year. In spite of financial difficulties, Reddy declared that the Congress-led government is dedicated to fulfilling its promises.
The CM highlighted the accomplishments of his administration: free bus travel for women, an Arogya Sri health scheme, reduced-priced gas cylinders, free power for the poor, housing initiatives, and a farm loan waiver. He also announced new measures like the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme, crop insurance premium payments, and education reforms including the creation of a 'Vidya Commission' and a new Skill University.
