Former cricketer and AAP Rajya Sabha MP, Harbhajan Singh, has called for urgent and decisive action in the rape-murder case of a Kolkata doctor. In a heartfelt plea addressed to West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Singh expressed deep anguish over the delay in justice.
In a post on X, Singh emphasized that the safety and dignity of women are non-negotiable and called for exemplary punishment for the perpetrators. He stated that restoring faith in the system is crucial to ensuring such tragedies never happen again.
Singh also shared a copy of the letter, demanding justice for the victim and a safer society. He expressed solidarity with doctors in their fight for justice. The body of the post-graduate trainee doctor was found in RG Kar Medical College on August 9, with a civic volunteer arrested the next day.
