Paswan stressed that reservation provisions must be followed for all government appointments. He vowed to continue raising his voice on this issue, emphasizing that the reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs must be maintained in every appointment. He pointed out that the government is committed to taking appropriate action to ensure this.

Paswan also clarified that Prime Minister Narendra Modi supports reservations, referencing a recent Supreme Court ruling that allows states to sub-classify SCs and STs. Paswan's stance aligns with opposition voices like Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, who criticized the lateral entry scheme as an attack on marginalized communities.

On Monday, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the scheme, describing it as an attack on Dalits, OBCs, and Adivasis. He accused the BJP of trying to undermine the Constitution and deprive Bahujans of reservations. The UPSC's call for applications for 45 mid-level posts including joint secretaries, directors, and deputy secretaries has been met with opposition from various parties.
