Police arrested 13 individuals and installed additional security fences at a Chicago park following clashes between protesters and officers near the Democratic National Convention site. The protest, which called for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war, saw a few activists breach the fencing before being pushed back by police.

According to Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling, the arrested individuals faced charges ranging from criminal trespass to aggravated battery of police officers. Snelling emphasized that the security breach was minor and praised the majority of the protesters for their peaceful conduct.

The park, located a block from the convention arena, saw significant law enforcement presence, with officers exercising restraint despite some protesters using pepper spray. Additional fencing was installed to prevent further security breaches as more protests are expected throughout the week.
