Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Announces First List of Assembly Candidates

The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party has released its first list of eight candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in the union territory. The list, approved by party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, includes noteworthy figures such as Rafi Mir and Hilal Ahmad Shah. The party also unveiled its manifesto, pledging to seek constitutional guarantees to preserve the culture and special identity of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on Wednesday unveiled its initial list of eight candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections in the union territory, as per a party spokesperson.

This list, recommended by Mohammad Dilawar Mir, chairman of the party's parliamentary affairs committee, received approval from party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari. Earlier that day, the Apni Party also launched its manifesto for the assembly elections. The manifesto promises to urge the Centre to provide constitutional guarantees to protect the culture and special identity of Jammu and Kashmir and to advocate for the restoration of statehood for the union territory.

The manifesto was introduced at a press conference by the party's general secretary Rafi Mir, who will compete from the Pahalgam constituency, along with other senior leaders. Other notable candidates include Hilal Ahmad Shah for Anatnag, Tariq Shah Veeri for Bijbehara, and Abdul Majeed Padder from D H Pora, among others. All these seats fall within south Kashmir, which will go to the polls in the first phase of the tri-phase elections on September 18.
