The Hazratganj Police have registered an FIR against Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, Ajay Rai, and former state president Ajay Kumar Lallu, along with 100 unidentified individuals, for causing disruptions near Raj Bhawan in Lucknow.
The protest, led by Rai on August 22, demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the Hindenburg Report concerning the Adani group and Madhabi Puri Buch.
Hazratganj sub-inspector Rahul Singh filed the complaint against Rai. Others named in the FIR include Tanuj Poonia, Barabanki Congress MP, Dheeraj Gurjar, the party's national general secretary, Shiv Pandey, the party's treasurer, and Akhilesh Pratap Singh, a former MLA and spokesperson.
A similar FIR was lodged at Gautam Palli police station against the same Congress leaders. According to Sub Inspector Singh, around 3 pm on August 22, a crowd of 100 people moved from Raj Bhavan Gate No-1 to Gate No-2.
Singh mentioned that when he attempted to halt the crowd, they pushed him, obstructing police work. Despite the efforts of the police presence at Gate No-2, the crowd continued to push, protesting unlawfully and creating a disruption.
The protest caused significant inconvenience to school children, women, traders, and others, completely disrupting traffic and security at Raj Bhavan Gates, instilling fear and disturbing public order, Singh added.
