The Karnataka High Court is scheduled to resume hearing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand's prosecution sanction in the MUDA case.
Governor Thaawarchand accorded the sanction on August 16 under various legal provisions for alleged offences cited in petitions by Pradeep Kumar S P, T J Abraham, and Snehamayi Krishna. Shortly after, on August 19, Siddaramaiah approached the High Court, questioning the legality of the Governor's decision.
The petition claims that the sanction was granted without proper scrutiny and in violation of constitutional principles, including the mandatory counsel of the Council of Ministers. This legal battle is being closely observed for its political ramifications. The Congress party has stood firmly behind Siddaramaiah, denouncing any possibility of his resignation and planning both legal and political countermeasures.
