Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday spoke to Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, marking a significant high-level contact since the change of government in Dhaka. The discussion underscored enhancing regional cooperation for South Asia's progress and prosperity.
During the telephone conversation, Sharif highlighted the importance of revitalizing bilateral relations and emphasized shared historical, religious, and cultural bonds. He expressed a keen desire to boost commercial relations, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts.
Sharif extended his congratulations to Yunus on his new leadership role and offered his support to flood-devastated Bangladesh. Yunus, the 84-year-old Nobel laureate, appreciated the gesture and pledged to uphold the constitution.
