Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has raised alarms about Pakistan's political instability and terrorism, warning that these issues have pushed the economy to the brink of collapse.
The 71-year-old PTI founder emphasized that the country's fragile economy poses the biggest challenge, yet intelligence agencies are preoccupied with targeting his political party.
He added that while his PTI has been accused of instigating recent terrorism, the government asserts that the terrorists originated from across the border. According to Khan, the ongoing instability deters investment and risks parochialism, a situation only a federal party like PTI can address.
Khan, currently incarcerated and facing over 200 cases, stressed the irony that PTI, the only party with a national presence, is being weakened. He faces accusations of masterminding riots following his arrest in a corruption case, with the government planning a military trial against him.
