National Conference (NC) MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi on Saturday questioned new postings in the police department in Jammu and Kashmir amidst the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and called for an explanation from the Election Commission (EC).
Mehdi stated that his party had emphasized to the EC the importance of free and fair elections and a level-playing field, warning against any government actions that could show bias or prejudice.
He expressed concerns about the timing and intent behind recent police transfers, suggesting potential favoritism towards a particular political party. Mehdi demanded transparency and an explanation from the EC to ensure no imbalances in the administration.
