Liz Cheney Supports Kamala Harris, Labels Trump a 'Danger'
Former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney announces her decision to vote for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, citing Donald Trump as a significant threat. Cheney, who previously supported Trump's second impeachment and served on the committee investigating the Capitol attack, lost her seat in Congress after Trump backed her opponent.
In a striking political shift, Republican former congresswoman Liz Cheney announced on Wednesday that she will be casting her vote for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Cheney described former President Donald Trump as a 'danger' to the country.
"As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I am voting for Kamala Harris," Cheney stated at an event at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, as documented in a video posted on social media platform X.
Cheney's stance against Trump is not new. She supported Trump's second impeachment following his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack and served as the vice chair of the House committee that investigated the insurrection. Her unyielding position led to her losing her congressional seat in 2022 after Trump endorsed her Republican primary opponent.
