Trump Threatens U.S. University Accreditation Over Antisemitism Claims
Donald Trump has warned that U.S. universities could lose their accreditation and federal support if they perpetuate what he terms 'antisemitic propaganda.' He spoke to over 1,000 Republican Jewish Coalition donors, addressing the issues of Israel-related protests on campuses and his potential Middle Eastern policies for a second term.
Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to U.S. universities, threatening to cut their accreditation and federal support if they continue promoting what he describes as 'antisemitic propaganda.' His remarks came during a speech to more than 1,000 Republican Jewish Coalition donors in Las Vegas.
Protests against Israel's military actions in Gaza had sparked controversy; students have urged universities to cut ties with companies supporting Israel, which Republicans argue is evidence of antisemitism within the Democratic Party. Protesters, however, maintain that their criticism is aimed solely at Israel's policies.
During his speech, Trump outlined potential Middle Eastern policies and attacked Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, suggesting her presidency would be disastrous for Israel. The Harris campaign has yet to comment, although she supports Biden's strong pro-Israel stance while calling for a ceasefire in Gaza due to devastating humanitarian conditions.
