AIADMK Joins Hunger Strike for Fishermen's Release in Thoothukudi

The AIADMK announced its participation in a hunger strike to be held on September 9 in Thoothukudi. The protest aims to pressurize the Central and State governments to ensure the release of 22 fishermen arrested by Sri Lankan authorities on August 5, 2024, for alleged poaching.
Party chief and Leader of Opposition, Edappadi K Palaniswami, disclosed that prominent party figures such as Kadambur C Raju, SP Shanmuganathan, and ST Chellapandian will join the strike.
Palaniswami, also a former Chief Minister, held both the State and Central governments accountable for the failure to address the issue promptly.
