Chhagan Bhujbal, a Maharashtra cabinet minister, on Monday declared Ajit Pawar, NCP president and Deputy CM, as the 'captain' of the party, confirming Pawar's candidacy from Baramati in the upcoming assembly polls.
This affirmation follows Ajit Pawar's recent suggestion that Baramati should get a new MLA to appreciate his contributions, as he felt undervalued by voters during the recent Lok Sabha elections, where his wife Sunetra was defeated by Supriya Sule.
Bhujbal reiterated that Ajit Pawar is a key leader and will win the Baramati seat with a huge margin, despite recent electoral setbacks.
