Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Tuesday criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his remarks made in the USA, asserting that there is no need to go outside India to discuss reservations. Athawale emphasized that as long as Prime Minister Modi is alive, there is no threat to the Constitution.

Gandhi, while speaking at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, stated that the Congress party will consider scrapping reservations when India becomes 'fair,' a status he believes it has yet to achieve. He underscored the need for a caste census, highlighting the underrepresentation of OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis in Indian institutions.

Rahul Gandhi pointed out that while India's government is run by 70 bureaucrats, only a small fraction of them represent marginalized communities. He argued that economic and social justice are still distant dreams for many, and stressed that the INDIA bloc aims to protect the Constitution and support a caste census.
