Rahul Gandhi's recent comments during his visit to the US have ignited a significant political controversy, with BJP leaders accusing him of tarnishing India's reputation. Union Minister Giriraj Singh continued the criticism on Wednesday, claiming that Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, aligns himself with anti-national elements.

Singh charged Gandhi with supporting Umar Khalid, who faces charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for his alleged role in the 2020 Delhi riots, and Ilhan Omar, a US lawmaker critical of India. 'Whether in India or America, Rahul Gandhi sides with anti-national forces,' Singh stated, adding that the press conference attendees used an 'anti-India toolkit.'

Further condemning Gandhi, Singh demanded punitive measures against him, including stripping him of his Parliament membership. 'Rahul Gandhi maligns the country, the Prime Minister, and democracy; it's time for action,' he said.

Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje echoed these sentiments, questioning Gandhi's intentions. 'Rahul Gandhi is the opposition leader in Parliament, not against India. Abroad, we should stand united. Why defame India? Is there a conspiracy?' Karandlaje asked, insisting such actions would not be tolerated.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Sindhe also accused Gandhi of detracting from the nation's image. 'Whenever Rahul Gandhi goes abroad, he dishonors the country, people, and Prime Minister,' Sindhe asserted, condemning Gandhi's unveiled stance against reservations as insulting to the constitution.

Gandhi's remarks on the BJP, the Sikh community, and reservations during his address to the Indian diaspora in the US have incited widespread criticism. During his stay, which began on September 8 in Dallas, Gandhi also engaged with students and faculty at the University of Texas. (ANI)
