BJP candidate from the Shopian Assembly constituency, Javaid Ahmad Qadri, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his significant role in enhancing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. With voting for the first phase of polls in the region commencing this morning, Qadri noted a substantial voter turnout.
Qadri credited PM Modi for the improved conditions in J&K, saying, "People in large numbers are coming out to cast their votes...The central government has worked extensively to ensure the development of Shopian. Before the abrogation of Article 370, only select families voted, but today common citizens are voting in large numbers."
Pulwama Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Basharat Qayoom reported, "Polling is proceeding smoothly in all four Assembly constituencies. There is considerable enthusiasm among voters, and voting is going on without issues." Pulwama SSP, P D Nitya, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the effective security measures in place and the high voter turnout. The initial phase saw a voter turnout of 11.11 percent as of 9 am.
