A political conflict erupted in Maharashtra on Wednesday as BJP MP Anil Bonde suggested that Rahul Gandhi's tongue should be singed for his comments on reservations. Congress leaders swiftly condemned Bonde's provocative remarks, questioning the chief minister's silence on threats directed at their leader.
Following the inflammatory comments, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Bonde in Amravati for allegedly inciting riots. Local Congress leaders, including MP Balwant Wankhede and MLA Yashomati Thakur, organized a sit-in protest at the police commissioner's office to demand action.
The controversy intensified as BJP state chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule distanced himself from Bonde and Gaikwad's statements but asked Gandhi to clarify his stance on reservations. Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut and Congress officials accused top BJP leaders of tacitly supporting the incendiary rhetoric, pledging statewide protests.
