The BJP on Monday took a sharp jab at former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, questioning whether he sees himself as a 'self-styled ambassador or a PRO' for the Pakistani government. This remark came as Abdullah repeatedly calls for bilateral talks between India and Pakistan.
In his statement, BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh alleged that National Conference (NC) leader Abdullah championed Pakistan's cause more fervently than that of Jammu and Kashmir's progress. Chugh critically inquired, 'Is Farooq Abdullah a self-styled ambassador or a PRO of the Pakistan government who keeps advocating the cause of Pakistan more than talking about the progress and development of J&K?'
Chugh stressed that dialogue and terrorism could not coexist, expressing astonishment that Abdullah continues to express 'anti-national' sentiments despite Pakistan being recognized worldwide as a hub of terrorism. He further accused the Abdullahs and the Congress of compromising J&K's peace and growth by aligning with Pakistan. Under Modi's leadership, Chugh maintained, J&K's citizens have recognized the harm caused by NC and PDP over the years and now seek industrial development, tourism growth, and youth employment instead of violence.
