The Punjab government, under Bhagwant Mann, inducted five first-time MLAs as ministers in a significant Cabinet reshuffle on Monday. The ceremony, held at the Raj Bhavan, saw Governor Gulab Chand Kataria administer the oath of office to the new ministers while Chief Minister Mann and other party leaders were in attendance.

Among the new inductees are Hardeep Singh Mundian, Barinder Kumar Goyal, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Ravjot Singh, and Mohinder Bhagat. Three hail from Malwa and two from Doaba. Notably, Bhagat and Ravjot Singh represent the Dalit community in the Cabinet.

Portfolios were allocated with Mundian receiving revenue, rehabilitation, and housing, Goyal getting mines and water resources, Sond assigned tourism and rural development, Ravjot Singh taking local government, and Bhagat handling defence services welfare. The reshuffle, the fourth in 30 months, follows the Supreme Court granting bail to AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in an excise policy case.
