Speaking at the Labour Party's annual conference in Liverpool, Starmer acknowledged that some decisions might be unpopular but stressed the necessity of fair cost distribution. "The cost of filling that black hole in our public finances will be shared fairly," he stated.

Starmer took a jab at the Conservative Party, warning against the global perception of a country that fails to fund its policies. "The risk of showing to the world, as the Tories have, that this country does not fund its policies - that is a risk we can never take again," he added.
