Historic Voter Turnout in Final Phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Polls
The third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections witnessed a 68.72% voter turnout, surpassing previous Lok Sabha poll figures. Despite some districts showing a reduction in votes compared to the 2014 Assembly elections, the overall participation showcased an enthusiastic involvement, especially from new voters post the abrogation of Article 370.

The third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections on Tuesday saw an impressive voter turnout of 68.72%, exceeding the previous Lok Sabha poll figures in the corresponding seven districts. Notably, Sopore and Baramulla recorded the highest turnout in three decades, breaking their traditional boycott trend.
According to Election Commission (EC) data, the overall polling percentage across all three phases was 63.45%. The election process concluded peacefully, with no untoward incidents reported, including at special polling stations along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC).
The enthusiasm was palpable among voters, especially those voting for the first time post the abrogation of Article 370. The Chief Election Commissioner highlighted the historical significance of these elections, attributing the smooth conduct to meticulous planning and the people’s unwavering belief in the democratic process.
