The decision on who will be the Congress candidate for chief minister in the upcoming Haryana assembly polls rests with the party's high command, MP Kumari Selja has stressed. Her remarks come in the wake of speculation about various candidates, including herself and members of the Hooda family.

Addressing the issue of candidacy, Selja stated, "I cannot say anything about it. My supporters may have preferences, but ultimately, the decision does not lie with them." She questioned why she must advocate for herself, given her dedication and hard work over the years.

Despite internal party dynamics, Selja clarified her commitment to Congress and dismissed rumors of a defection to the Bharatiya Janata Party. She noted that several factors, beyond individual leaders, contribute to the party's prospects. Haryana's elections are set for October 5, with results on October 8.
