The Shiv Sena (UBT) has pointed fingers at its ally, the Congress, for its recent electoral loss in Haryana, citing 'overconfidence' as the primary reason. This criticism comes as the Congress faces pressure to decide whether it will run independently in the upcoming Maharashtra elections.
In a sharp editorial in Saamana, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena emphasized the need for the Opposition's Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, which includes the NCP, to declare a chief ministerial candidate ahead of the elections. This move, according to Sena leaders, is essential for the alliance’s coherence and effectiveness.
The Congress has faced internal disputes, notably during last year's elections in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, which contributed to BJP's unexpected victories. As the seat-sharing talks progress, Congress has cautioned against public criticism from allies, signalling further tensions within the alliance.
