Atishi succeeded Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister of Delhi following his decision to step down after being released from jail in connection with an excise scam case. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), currently in power in Delhi, has had a contentious relationship with the BJP-led Central government over various governance and administrative issues.
