A massive cash seizure in Pune has sparked off intense political allegations in Maharashtra. On Monday, police confiscated Rs 5 crore during an on-road check near Khed-Shivapur plaza. The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut claims that the seized amount is just a fraction of illegal cash flow mobilized by the ruling parties.
Raut linked the incident to Shiv Sena MLA Shahjibapu Patil, alleging that another vehicle carrying Rs 10 crore was allowed to evade police scrutiny. Patil denied any connection to the cash, while Raut criticized the Election Commission for ignoring these activities.
The unfolding drama comes amid the enforcement of the model code of conduct ahead of the November 20 assembly polls. NCP MLA Rohit Pawar argued that such seizures demonstrate rampant corruption and further claimed that the opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi, would prevail over money and muscle power tactics.
