The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed allegations that actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty's purse was stolen during a recent rally in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Party officials stated that the purse was simply misplaced and subsequently recovered.
The incident occurred while Chakraborty was campaigning in the Nirsa assembly constituency for BJP candidate Aparna Sengupta. Despite BJP's assurance, a video from the rally has circulated widely on social media, where a party leader is audible asking for the return of the purse, urging, 'This is not the culture of Nirsa.'
The video has fueled speculation, although Press Trust of India has not been able to independently confirm its authenticity, leading to questions about the reliability of the viral recording and the actual events that transpired.
