Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K Kavitha voiced strong criticism today against the Telangana government's handling of the Musi River beautification project, accusing them of deceiving the public. Kavitha raised questions about the transparency and funding of the project, led by the Congress-led administration under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
In a statement, Kavitha alleged that the government sought a Rs 4,100 crore World Bank loan under the guise of the Musi Riverfront Development Project, misleadingly presenting it as a rejuvenation project. She criticized the Chief Minister for prioritizing commercial interests over public welfare and ecological restoration.
Kavitha claimed the project aims to displace over 16,000 families along the Musi River to pave the way for commercial developments. She expressed concern over the direction of the current government contrasted with BRS's policies during their decade-long rule, urging transparency in project disclosures and questioning whose interests the Congress government serves.
