In a significant pre-electoral move, former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal, is poised to unveil the Pujari, Granthi Samman Yojana. The announcement will take place at the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place on Tuesday. Concurrently, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi will introduce the scheme at the Gurudwara in Karol Bagh.

Announcing the scheme on Monday, Kejriwal revealed that it aims to honor the priests of temples and 'granthis' of Gurudwaras with a monthly stipend of Rs 18,000. This initiative is expected to be rolled out once the AAP secures victory in the impending 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, marking a pioneering step in Indian politics.

Kejriwal emphasized the invaluable role priests have played in facilitating spiritual connections for the public, often at the cost of neglecting their own families. He highlighted previous groundbreaking measures introduced by his administration, such as improving public utilities and empowering women through free travel schemes. In a pointed remark, he called on the BJP and Congress to emulate these initiatives, while criticizing attempts by rival parties to disrupt similar programs.
