In a recent statement, Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Chhagan Bhujbal declared his reluctance to assume a ministerial position if it meant displacing a fellow party member. He emphasized that he had no desire to enter the Maharashtra government cabinet under such circumstances.
Speculation arose after opposition leaders Vijay Wadettiwar of Congress and Jitendra Awhad of NCP(SP) suggested Bhujbal might join the Devendra Fadnavis-led government, potentially at Dhananjay Munde's expense. Munde is facing scrutiny due to his aide's alleged involvement in a high-profile extortion case. However, Bhujbal debunked these claims and revealed he had taken a hiatus from politics for much-needed rest after years of active engagement since 1967.
Besides discussing political roles, Bhujbal highlighted his commitment to social issues by participating in events celebrating the legacy of social reformer Savitribai Phule. He plans to visit Phule's birthplace and participate in a statue unveiling alongside prominent figures like Sharad Pawar, asserting his continued dedication to social causes despite political dynamics.
