Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has indicated that Pakistan's economy is on a path to long-term recovery, supported by an International Monetary Fund (IMF) stabilization programme. His comments came ahead of a crucial review in March for the $7-billion bailout, during discussions with IMF's Kristalina Georgieva at the World Government Summit in Dubai.

Sharif emphasized the progress achieved under the IMF's Extended Fund Facility (EFF), which has been pivotal in stabilizing the economy. The Pakistani government and central bank remain confident in meeting their economic targets as the country, aided by the September bailout, continues its recovery journey.

The meeting in Dubai focused on macroeconomic stability secured through comprehensive reforms under the IMF agenda. Emphasizing commitments to structural reforms and fiscal discipline, Sharif reiterated the government's aim to sustain reform efforts in vital areas such as taxation, energy efficiency, and private sector development.
